PO­LICE have warned youths they will be tak­ing a ‘zero-tol­er­ance’ ap­proach to anti-so­cial be­hav­iour this week­end.

Of­fi­cers have warned peo­ple plan­ning to cause is­sues in Con­gle­ton they will have a larger po­lice pres­ence than usual.

The warn­ing comes af­ter in­ci­dents ear­lier this month where youths trav­elled to the town from Crewe – tear­ing up flower beds, spit­ting at peo­ple, throw­ing eggs and al­legedly as­sault­ing a girl on High Street.

Lo­cal youths were praised for tidy­ing up af­ter the in­ci­dent.

A Cheshire Po­lice spokesman said: “Of­fi­cers will have the power to stop and search any­one sus­pected of car­ry­ing a weapon and will be tak­ing a zero tol­er­ance ap­proach to ASB.”
