‘Leaving it up to us was wrong move’

YES, of course everyone should wear face masks when shopping.

Yes, of course the guidance should have been mandatory weeks if not months ago.

Possibly the excuse why it wasn’t was the perceived lack of availability of the masks.

However, the excuse from the Government that they were leaving it to the good sense of the public is a poor one. Most people will be divided on whether the public have natural good sense, but is it really worth taking a risk on this dodgy assumption of all average Mr and Mrs plus children having good sense?

However, why not go further and place some responsibility on the store owners to have a procedure to ensure that the requirement of face masks is implemented?
