Between Stoke and Derby

In a corner of Staffordshire is a new 12-acre wood with five bijou pitches carved out of it, each one a private domain just big enough for a tent or two. Alethea and Ben wanted to create the sort of campsite they themselves would want to go to. So they planted saplings and sowed wildflower seeds and it is lovely. The loo has a view and in a little pagoda is a solar-heated shower and – oh joy – a tiny wood-fired sauna. There’s even talk of a telescope this year for stargazing…
