“He was al­ways car­ry­ing it around,” says Simon of the length of twisted wood once owned by mu­seum founder Ce­cil Wil­liamson. “We don’t know how he was us­ing it – he was very pri­vate about his mag­i­cal prac­tice – but it’s too small to be used as a walk­ing stick.” We do know it was pre­sented to Ce­cil by the Royal Witch of Wind­sor, Rosa Wood­man, for whom it had been a ‘turn­ing stick’ to turn away evil.
