Five places to learn
Spending time with a teacher in a group setting can really help to ‘set’ your mindfulness practice. Try these…
Serenity Retreat (serenityretreat.co.uk) Affordable breaks in the UK and Greece, where you can dip in and out of mindfulness.
Zenways (zenways.org) London-based Zen training centre that also runs retreats all around the UK. Their key retreat is the three-day intensive, exploring the question, ‘ Who am I?’. Hard work, but inspiring. The Sharpham Trust (sharphamtrust.org) A range of Devon-based retreats, from starting a mindfulness practice to exploring particular areas of mindfulness, such as mindful cookery or singing.
Plum Village ( plumvillage.org) At Thich Nhat Hanh’s practice centre in south-west France: retreats in mindful communal living. Return to Silence (returntosilence.co.uk) Simple, gentle retreats in Buckinghamshire, covering silence, reflection, rest and mindful activities (meditation, yoga, qigong, walking). Suitable for beginners.
