A feast of autumn fruit

OCTOBER’S HARVEST OF GRAPES IS A SEASONAL BOUNTY THAT’S TOO GOOD NOT TO SHARE

The Simple Things - - LIVING - Photography & styling: KYM GRIMSHAW Words & recipes: LOTTIE STOREY

Autumn is a time of plentiful fruit, when sweet summer berries make way for orchard fruits, the grape harvest, and burstlingly sweet figs. It’s all very Roman. And there’s an Italian flavour to this month’s menu. Seasonal shades of orange and purple dance off the plate in this simple spread, kicking off with sweet and salty ricotta and grape toasts, followed by a luscious fig-stuffed chicken dish, and finishing up with drunken Pedro Ximénez prunes. Share these intense flavours with friends – whether it’s after a day of harvesting or an invigorating stroll kicking up leaves along country lanes. »
