well and I felt Queens deserved a draw but that’s now four games without us losing a goal,” he said.

“At 1-0, we had two or three great opportunities to kill the game and then came under pressure at the end.”

Queens boss Gavin Skelton admitted his team aren’t enjoying the rub of the green.

He said: “In the first-half we were excellent but we didn’t work their keeper enough.”

Queens were almost gifted the lead after six minutes when Stephen Dobbie robbed Peter Murphy but the striker pulled his shot wide of the target.

Greg Fleming came to Ayr’s rescue two minutes later when he used his legs to keep out a drive from Mark Millar who had been sent free by Dobbie.

Ayr looked more dangerous after the break and Nicky Devlin set up Ross Docherty for a 22-yard screamer which flashed inches wide.

The Honest Men took the lead in 52 minutes.

Harkins was the architect with a clever lay-off and Cairney finished with a low drive from the edge of the box.

Dobbie sent a bouncing shot just wide on a day when Queens’ luck was out.
