Forest Enterprise Scotland have suggested specimens suitable for growing in the smallest garden. Crab apples and the mountain ash, Sorbus aucuparia ‘Fastigiata’, with dark red berries and fiery autumn leaves, make their list, as does Aesculus mutabilis ‘Induta’ which produces a show of apricot and yellow flowers in early summer.
