Sturgeon the scribe

AMID all the fuss about First Minister Nicola Sturgeon starting a column for a daily newspaper, it is worth remembering she is not the first sitting political leader to do so.

One Holyrood wag pointed out that in 2009 then-Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez had his “Chavez’s Lines” syndicated among the country’s main papers.

The late socialist leader made his column debut writing about baseball, a sport he once played. So can we expect to see some Old Firm insight from Ms Sturgeon this week?
