Going back to our roots

-

HOUSE hunters’ wish-lists may vary, but when it comes to choosing a property to suit our needs, many of us are influenced by one factor – the home we grew up in.

A third of people live in a similar house to the one they spent most of their childhood in, according to estate agent Tepilo’s research. And of those who do live in a similar property, 25% chose the house specifically because it reminded them of where they grew up.

However, rising property prices have burst the bubble for many people.

Among the two-thirds (66%) of people who do not live in a property like their childhood home, over a quarter (26%) say the reason is they can’t afford to.
