Richards is in the Market

- By Reg Moore SELECTIONS

NICKY RICHARDS gave us a glimpse of a nice horse in Reivers Lad at Kelso in the week. There may be more to come from the stable’s Caius Marcius today.

The Greystoke trainer is very patient with his young horses. But it’s time to kick on with this son of King’s Theatre, handicapping off a mark of 120.

Last time at Musselburgh, the six-year-old was still travelling sweetly when unseated three out, in a race won by 141-rated, Project Bluebook.

A bumper winner at Ayr, with two subsequent novice hurdle wins at Perth and Hexham, there should be more to come from the selection at two miles.

Pam Sly should never be underestimated, and with three winners in the last 10 days, the Cambridgeshire trainer’s string are in great nick.

There should be a bit more to come from her runner in the opening race, All My Love, after she looked as if she would be involved at Wetherby last time.

The mare was two lengths down when falling at the second-last in the novice won by Golden Moon, and she is a flat winner at Windsor off 67.

There is a case for making Alan King Trainer of the Year, and the Scot has a big chance in the mare’s handicap hurdle with Martha McCandles.

She just scrambled home by a neck from Chance Taken at Exeter last month, is only up 3lb, and today’s extra furlong will be a plus.
