Holyrood row over English tea
THE Scottish Parliament has been accused of ignoring its own policy of using locallysourced products by giving customers English tea.
Holyrood’s supply of the hot beverage comes from London-based Jacksons of Piccadilly.
But Lothian Tory MSP Miles Briggs said there were plenty of Scottish tea firms.
A Scottish Parliament spokesman said catering contractors Sodexo had previously approached Scottish tea suppliers.
He added: “Unfortunately, the tea suppliers were not able to guarantee that the tea they supply is Fairly Traded. We specify the use of Fairly Traded tea within our contract terms.”
