SNP REACTION
THE SNP were scathing about the Foreign Secretary’s Brexit intervention. Stephen Gethins MP, SNP spokesperson on International Affairs and Europe, said: “Theresa May must make clear whether Boris Johnson is speaking for the UK Government with his latest embarrassing intervention on Brexit. “The Tory Government’s plans for Brexit already threaten significant damage to the UK and Scottish economies, and to our international reputation – Boris seems determined to make that even worse.
“The Tories have a chance to step back from the brink, and back staying in the single market and the customs union – not just on a transitional basis but for the long-term to protect our economy and retain access to the biggest market in the world.
“As for Boris Johnson’s empty promises to the NHS, the Tories either need to pay up this mythical money for our valued health service or fess up that, just like the rest of their Brexit claims, this is another Tory con.”
