Bare-root trees and hedging plants are now available and if you plan to add any to your garden then prepare the ground now, digging it over and adding garden compost to improve the soil structure. Dig large holes, sprinkle mycorrhizal fungi at the bottom and over the sides to assist with root development, and firm in well.
