ALEX SALMOND has repeated calls for former SNP MP Michelle Thomson to be readmitted to the party after a fraud case against her was dropped.
Prosecutors announced earlier this month that there would be no criminal proceedings against the ex Edinburgh West MP due to an “absence of sufficient credible and reliable evidence”.
She had been one of five people named in a police report centred on property deals. Mr Salmond said the SNP had handled the “extremely difficult situation” badly, but attacked media coverage of the issue.
He said: “You can’t have a situation where people are denied natural justice.
“That young woman was denied natural justice and had her political career totally removed from her without foundation and without any justice whatsoever.”
The former First Minister said he hoped Mrs Thomson would stand again, but added: “I don’t know how Michelle feels about it.”
