Doddy’s still joking aged 90
Ken Dodd turns 90 on Wednesday but insists he has no intentions of retiring.
The veteran funnyman still regularly performs live shows of more than three hours.
“I’m told that before I go out on stage, I look my age,” he said. “Once I’m there I suddenly turn into a 32-year-old.”
Doddy has been at the top for more than 60 years and still lives in the same rambling mansion at Knotty Ash, Liverpool, where he grew up.
“It is older than me,” he joked. “My house was built in 1782, the year before I was born.”
The comedian said his big break came in 1965 when he made it to the Palladium in London, which was then the temple of showbusiness.
