Family left heartbroken after gran killed by car
The family of a grandmother mowed down by a hit-andrun driver say they have been left heartbroken by her death.
Krishna Devi Droch, 62, died after being struck as she walked across a street in Birmingham on Thursday.
Police revealed yesterday that a fourth person, a 47-year-old man, had been arrested over her killing.
In a statement released by West Midlands Police, Mrs Droch’s family said: “Our family has been left heartbroken. Krishna Devi Droch was not only a mother but a daughter, sister, grandmother and aunt.
“This is not only a loss to the family, but a loss to the community.
“Through her kindness and support she was the foundation of our family.
“Although nothing can ever replace what we have lost, her love and care will stay with us forever.”
Police believe Mrs Droch was struck as a Vauxhall Zafira was being followed by a Corsa and a Mondeo.
The Zafira is thought to have gone the wrong side of a “keep left” bollard and hit her.
It was later found burnt out in a nearby close.
The two other cars were recovered.
The 47-year-old man is being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, after he handed himself in.
