Tate can Thunder home

- By Reg Moore sport@sundaypost.com

Risk Of Thunder has a lot going for her at Sandown today, not least the fillies’ 5lb allowance, in the opening listed race.

James Tate’s juvenile has the experience of two previous runs going into today’s contest, the final one over today’s five furlongs.

Six seemed to stretch her on debut at Newmarket. But she strode away impressively from Stream at Ripon two weeks ago.

In the Eclipse there seems little point in deserting the brilliant Enable, who will be fine if there remains a little juice in the ground. She hasn’t been seen since her gallant second to Waldgeist in the Arc in October, but has won on both her last two starts after a break.

It will be interesting to see how Godolphin’s Ghaiyyath fares. On a line through Waldgeist, he has a bit to find and concedes 3lb to the mare.

Going right-handed might suit John Gosden’s Eshaasy. He’s had a run behind one in the same ownership in the Britannia at Ascot

His victory at Kempton in a novice in August, over today’s seven furlongs, has produced several winners and that could be his ideal trip.
