NHS board hit by fresh cyber hack
PATIENTS waiting for medical treatment were left in the lurch due to a cyber attack on NHS Lanarkshire.
Staff worked overnight on Friday and throughout yesterday to prevent the malware spreading but a number of hospital and GP appointments had to be cancelled.
It is the second attack on the health board in four months, as Lanarkshire was one of the worst hit in May’s infiltration – the biggest IT breach in the history of the NHS.
Politicians have now questioned if all security advice issued during May had been implemented.
Lisa Cameron, MP for East Kilbride, Strathaven and Lesmahagow, has called for a meeting with board bosses.
