Brit driver sparks terror fears

The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - EXCLUSIVE -

A BRITISH driver sparked a terror alert after ploughing into holidaymakers at a packed Spanish restaurant.

The 79-year-old ex-pat was briefly mistaken for a terrorist after smashing his car into terrace tables a week after the attack in Barcelona’s Las Ramblas.

Three people were hurt in the incident at Los Patos restaurant in Puerto Alcudia in the north of Majorca.

Two of the victims, a Spaniard and an Italian, were taken to hospital with light injuries and the third suffered a broken leg.

Four tables were hit by the out-of-control Renault Koleos. Police were on the scene within minutes and confirmed it was a traffic accident, as restaurant workers realised when they saw the OAP at the wheel.
