The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - POLITICS -

week, my husband and I went blackberry picking not far from our flat. While foraging in the sunshine, we were surprised to hear one passer-by declare scathingly: “Ugh – I wouldn’t eat those.”

We both tried not to laugh (the crumble was delicious incidentally) as she went on her way. But on a more serious note, it is sad to think someone could be so disconnected from nature. Where does she think fruit comes from?

Blackberries aren’t hard to find this time of year – even in a built-up area like ours – so get out there and enjoy one of life’s simple pleasures.
