Beeb has to defend Nigella’s fake bake

The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - NEWS -

TV bosses have denied misleading viewers after trying to pass off a drab industrial unit as Nigella Lawson’s kitchen.

The cook is filmed wandering around her “home” in a robe in her new BBC2 series, left, and even told viewers in a preview that she couldn’t wait to show off her newly re-decorated kitchen.

However, bosses have admitted the show is filmed on an uninspiring industrial estate miles from her London townhouse.

The BBC said there was not enough space in the 57-year-old’s real home to film At My Table but claimed supplies used belong to Nigella.

All the backdrops on the set are fake, from the kitchen table to plants blowing in a fabricated breeze but the BBC said: “It is very much the essence of her house.

“The kitchen is based on Nigella’s and the utensils are her own.

“In episode one she opens a cupboard and things fall out – those are hers.”
