Did you see the draw ceremony for the Next Gen ATP Finals? That’s the year-end finale for the top teenagers in the world.

The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - OPINION -

Well, one tennis player was asked to pull off a female model’s glove with his teeth to reveal which of the two groups he had been placed in.

The other players discovered their groups when models revealed letters A or B hidden under their clothing.

And when one model lifted her skirt to reveal a letter on her thigh, I just cringed. It was truly awful.

I was surprised tennis went back down that route.

A few years ago at an ATP Masters Series event in Madrid, they decided to liven things up by getting female models to replace ball boys and girls. I thought we’d moved on from that. I love darts – I’ve been to events at Blackpool and the “Ally Pally” in London and it’s a great atmosphere.

But I hate when the players walk down the red carpet with a scantily-dressed girl on either arm. The women are there simply to be letched at and treated like objects.
