The Beano is a record breaker

The Sunday Post (Newcastle) - - NEWS -

A world record was set as part of the V&A celebrations yesterday – with the help of a special edition of the Beano.

Around 13,000 copies of the comic specially drawn for the launch of the new museum were available to visitors to the 3D Festival.

People were given the opportunity to draw their own ending to the strip – with one winning design to be displayed in the V&A Dundee.

And it resulted in a new Guinness World Record, with more than 650 comics being filled in – the world’s largest ever “finish the comic” competition. Yesterday Craig Glenday, editor in chief of Guinness World Records and from Dundee himself, said: “It has been a huge success. There was more than double the number of comics required and the record was smashed.”
