Goals from Beram Kayal and Tomer Hemed saw Championship leaders Brighton reach the fourth round for the seventh time in eight years. The Seagulls, unbeaten in 18 matches in the Championship, made 11 changes but were still too strong for their struggling League One opponents. Kayal’s goal from a low right-foot shot was particularly welcome in his comeback game after three months out following ankle surgery and the Israeli midfielder was also involved in Brighton’s second, setting up his compatriot Hemed for a free header from 10 yards out.
