Five areas where the final will be won and lost

- By Michael Vaughan

Reverse swing

Hasan Ali (above), Mohammad Amir and Junaid Khan are masters with the older ball and unlocking a path to the Indian lower order will decide Pakistan’s fate. As England discovered, Pakistan are a very difficult team to start an innings against.

Dhoni factor

Remains the uber-cool presence behind the stumps, calming proceedings when the skipper gets too excitable. The strength of India’s top order means he has only batted once so far in the competition but he is one dangerous sleeping giant lower down the order.

Spin factor

Ravi Ashwin is not at his best and seems to infuriate Virat Kohli at times but his changes of pace and Ravi Jadeja’s (above) accuracy – he has bowled more dot balls in the tournament than any other spinner – could tie down a fragile Pakistan batting order.

India’s golden trio

Shikhar Dhawan has scored more runs in global events since 2013 than any other batsman, Rohit Sharma (left) is in sublime touch and Virat Kohli is inching his way back to his best. Simply the best top three in ODI cricket now.

Pressure

A billion people are estimated to have watched when these teams met in the 2015 World Cup and the pressure on both sides is immense. India have the upper hand in recent meetings. Pakistan have lost seven in a row in global events to India.
