The atmosphere at Anfield is arguably the best in England and that was shown again in the intense meetings between the two sides last season – even if it regrettably went too far with the disgraceful attack on the City team bus. But Liverpool are a club with a huge, passionate fan-base and they have maintained that support despite not winning the league for 28 years.

Manchester City

No one would argue that City have an extremely passionate, motivated fanbase. It is clearly smaller than a club such as Liverpool but the hardcore will always make their presence felt. City are a relatively “new” club in global fan terms and the ongoing lukewarm response to the Champions League – with empty seats against Lyon recently – continues to highlight that.
