HR ADVISER AT WESTFIELD HEALTH; WESTFIELDHEALTH. COM HOURS PER WEEK: 32 (FOUR DAYS A WEEK)

I started working flexibly when I went back to work after having my two children, who are now 16 and 19.

We lived in New Zealand at the time, and when we moved back to England four years ago, I wanted to keep doing four days a week even though the children are older now. My Fridays off are so precious to me. I make sure I do something leisurely, like meeting up with a friend, but also to catch up on life admin – things that I don’t want to have to do on my weekend. It gives me more time to spend with my family.

You do always have to take into consideration the financial implications, but it really helps me cope better with managing life stress and anxiety.

Our work lives are so busy it can be hard to make time for anything else, so feeling in control is really important.
