Negotiate Wi-Fi time from the outset of your trip; blanket bans on electronics will only spark revolt. Build in several days when children can explore on their own – and escape their parents. Give them a camera; they might enjoy taking their own photographs, and they will hopefully object less to posing for your pictures. Get them to research holiday activities before departure; they need to make choices, too. Be flexible; adapt your plans as you go along to keep everybody happy.
