Identified with Eamhain Mhacha (the legendary capital of Ulster), Navan Fort is the most impressive ancient site in Northern Ireland. The massive earthwork sits on a drumlin and comprises two mounds enclosed by a ditch and bank, with elements dating variously from the late Bronze Age, Iron Age and early Christian era. As well as the fort itself, visit the adjoining Navan Centre, home to a replica Iron Age dwelling where you can learn to cook nettle soup and prepare for battle like a Celtic warrior.
