Gun battle in Tripoli in clash of rival factions
Heavy gunfire broke out in the Libyan capital yesterday, after two rival armed groups clashed in the city over the killing of one of their fighters.
The clashes left several cars burning in the streets before Tripoli later returned to calm.
Libya is in chaos with two factions struggling for control, one in Tripoli and the other to the east each running their own government. A UN-brokered government of national unity based in Tunis is negotiating to enter Tripoli in an effort to end the conflict.
