Care home costs
SIR – I have been notified of the increase in my mother’s care home fees – a whopping 5.8 per cent in a year when her pensions remain frozen. I do not know how this is calculated, nor do I know if the same increase applies to all residents.
This is a contract between unequal parties. Moving to another home is not a real option when you are in your eighties, settled and increasingly forgetful. I accept wage costs have risen in line with the National Living Wage, but it is time for some regulation of costs. Kerry Attwell Salisbury, Wiltshire
