Protest over prosecution of Troubles army veteran
Supporters of a former British soldier charged over the fatal 1974-shooting of a man in Northern Ireland will call for an end to prosecutions of veterans who served in the Troubles.
Dennis Hutchings’s legal team have already told a crown court judge in Belfast there was no evidence to prove the 75-year-old had used force unlawfully when the man was shot dead by an Army patrol.
The former soldier’s supporters will stage a protest near the Guards Memorial in London, on Saturday.
Hutchings of Cawsand, Cornwall, is accused of attempted murder and attempting to cause grievous bodily harm to unarmed John-Pat Cunningham, who was 27.
