Iran and Iraq plan joint drills after Kur­dish vote

Ira­nian and Iraqi cen­tral gov­ern­ment forces are to hold joint mil­i­tary ex­er­cises near their bor­ders, Iran’s state tele­vi­sion re­ported yes­ter­day, as part of Tehran’s ef­fort to sup­port Bagh­dad after the Kur­dish in­de­pen­dence ref­er­en­dum.

Mean­while, Iran an­nounced it had em­bar­goed ex­ports and im­ports of fuel prod­ucts to and from Iraqi Kur­dis­tan.

Gas oil is one of Iran’s main ex­ports to the au­ton­o­mous Kur­dis­tan region, which im­ported 110 mil­lion litres of it from Iran last year.
