Police will wear cameras during anarchist march
Body-worn cameras will be used by more police officers patrolling protesters at today’s “Million Mask March” than ever before following a surge in violence in recent years.
The Metropolitan Police is stepping up efforts to limit disruption after last year’s protest was marred by anarchic scenes with fireworks and flares thrown at crowds in Trafalgar Square and aimed at police officers.
A significant police operation will get under way when the antiestablishment protesters – many of whom will wear Guy Fawkes masks – descend on London at 6pm today.
The body-worn cameras will help officers to help track down and identify any offenders.
