Chemist ac­cused of poi­son­ing po­lice sacked

A chemist at the cen­tre of an in­ci­dent in which seven po­lice of­fi­cers were rushed to hos­pi­tal with chem­i­cal poi­son­ing, had been dis­missed from Ox­ford Univer­sity for mis­con­duct.

Hamed Ah­madi Ne­jad, a 34-year-old com­pany di­rec­tor, was ar­rested on Thurs­day af­ter po­lice of­fi­cers raided his home at 5.30am.

Ne­jad has been charged with ad­min­is­ter­ing a poi­son with in­tent to in­flict griev­ous bod­ily harm and one count of in­tim­i­da­tion of a wit­ness.

Ox­ford mag­is­trates’ court has re­manded him in cus­tody and he is due to ap­pear at Ox­ford Crown Court on Dec 8.
