Restaurant caught out by wild salmon claims
A riverside restaurant which claimed its salmon was fresh from the River Wye bought it from fish farms.
Trading Standards officers were tipped off that Foyles restaurant in Glasbury-on-Wye, Powys, claimed to be serving locally-caught wild salmon and trout when in reality its owners used salmon from farm outlets.
Linda Dewan, 50, a partner in Foyles, admitted falsely describing food on its menus, website and social media. She was fined £2,000 and costs of £5,380. A Powys Council spokesman said: “Businesses have to get their descriptions correct and must not mislead consumers.”
