I spy with my rather large eye…

A joint project between Argentina and Brazil to advance their astronomical research by creating one of the world’s highest telescopes is about to take shape. The equipment has now reached Argentina, to be assembled into the ambitious Large Latin American Millimetre Array (Llama). The acronym makes reference to the Spanish word for “flame” as well as the South American animal. To be located in the Alto Chorrillos valley, the telescope will be used to study the evolution of the universe, black holes and the formation of galaxies and stars.
