THE (Times Higher Education) - - NEWS -

The University is seeking to recruit a Director of Computing and Digital Technologies to launch a new academic discipline. The new Director will be expected to develop a suite of teaching programmes and build research and professional activity from scratch, within the context of the University’s Strategic Plan. An early priority will be to develop a business plan and vision. The new Director will recruit, manage and develop his/her own team. The role will involve marketing the programmes, both within the University and externally, and building relationships and placement opportunities. The new subject area will sit within the Department of Media, Culture and Language, while it establishes itself, and the Director will sit on the departmental top team. Ideal candidates will have an academic background and some research credibility in a relevant field, which could be computer and data science, computer games technology, computer networks, digital media computing, or game design, production and development, etc. Candidates must enjoy taking on a project and building something new. They must understand research and the REF. They will bring a trackrecord of programme development and strong project management skills in developing new courses, combined with experience of managing people and budgets. They will demonstrate excellent vision, as well as proven leadership especially in a startup setting. The ability to develop something new from scratch will be critical. Candidates must be highly driven, ambitious and resourceful selfstarters. At the University of Roehampton, London, we change lives by helping our students to develop the confidence, knowledge and adaptability they need for a successful graduate career and fulfilling life. With international reach, our research informs policy, enriches culture and improves people’s lives. We have worldclass research across all of our academic departments and in the last Research Excellence Framework, we were most researchintensive modern university in the country. We have a proud and distinguished history dating back to the 1840s. Through the oldest of our four Colleges, Whitelands, we have provided higher education to women for longer than any other university in the country. Our values come from this rich history, built on community, engagement and partnership. The University has a beautiful, vibrant parkland campus, is located in the heart of southwest London and offers excellent facilities for researching, learning, teaching, and working.
