Lacrosse

Try one of the fastest games in the world…

The Week - Junior - - Do Something -

Lacrosse has been dubbed “the fastest game on two feet”, so if running’s your thing and you love team sports, now’s definitely the time to give it a go.

Lacrosse is a fast-paced team sport using netted sticks and a rubber ball that you try to get into the opponent’s goal. Players must move fast, and throw and catch the ball (in their nets) accurately. It’s a high-scoring game – you regularly see 20 or more goals in a match – where all players on the field are included.

POP is the lacrosse game for primary schools, usually played as a five-a-side mixed game. As you get older you can try INTO Lacrosse, for secondary-age players. You’ll need speed, good hand-eye coordination and a competitive instinct. You’ll have a lot of fun, and there’s a great social element, too. “The community surrounding the sport is incredible, especially in a country where it isn’t massively well known,” says our case study Chris. “Everyone knows each other and has high levels of respect for each other.”

Playing lacrosse will get you fit and give you skills that apply to other sports. “Just come along and try it; no one is judging you,” says Chris.

“If you find it hard at first, never stop trying. The time you put into it is what you’re going to get out, regardless of age or size.”

Lacrosse is a fast game.
