Raising money for the Poppy Appeal
An 86-year-old exparatrooper (members of the military who use parachutes) has raised around £120,000 for this year’s Poppy Appeal. Poppies are sold each year to commemorate those who lost their lives in war. Jeffrey Long trekked 86 miles from London to Reading, hoping to raise £1,000. When a woman put his story on social media it was shared by a celebrity comedian, which resulted in a big boost in donations. The money raised will support members and families of the British armed forces.
