What is CO2?

Carbon dioxide (CO2) is a gas that is produced when people and animals breathe out. It is also released when fossil fuels are burned. Too much CO2 in the atmosphere makes the greenhouse effect stronger. The greenhouse effect is when the Sun’s heat gets trapped in Earth’s atmosphere, warming up the planet (global warming).
