Live-ac­tion Lion King cast re­vealed

On 1 Novem­ber, the all-star cast for the live-ac­tion ver­sion of the Dis­ney clas­sic, The Lion King, was re­vealed. US singer, Bey­oncé, an­nounced the full cast­ing on her Face­book page, which con­firmed that she will be play­ing the role of Nala. The lead role of Simba will be played by Don­ald Glover, who re­cently ap­peared in this year’s Spi­der-Man Home­com­ing and lent his voice to a char­ac­ter in Ad­ven­ture Time. One ac­tor who will be re­turn­ing to his orig­i­nal role, is James Earl Jones. He voiced Simba’s fa­ther, Mu­fasa, in Dis­ney’s an­i­mated ver­sion re­leased in 1994. The Lion King was an­nounced last year. This fol­lows the suc­cess of re­makes such as Cin­derella, Malef­i­cent

(orig­i­nally Sleep­ing Beauty) and more re­cently,

Beauty and the Beast, which starred Emma Watson as Belle. Un­like these live-ac­tion ver­sions, there are no hu­mans in The Lion King story, so it is not known how ex­actly how this will work. The film is sched­uled to be re­leased in 2019.
