Live-action Lion King cast revealed
On 1 November, the all-star cast for the live-action version of the Disney classic, The Lion King, was revealed. US singer, Beyoncé, announced the full casting on her Facebook page, which confirmed that she will be playing the role of Nala. The lead role of Simba will be played by Donald Glover, who recently appeared in this year’s Spider-Man Homecoming and lent his voice to a character in Adventure Time. One actor who will be returning to his original role, is James Earl Jones. He voiced Simba’s father, Mufasa, in Disney’s animated version released in 1994. Disney’s plan to create a live-action version of
The Lion King was announced last year. This follows the success of remakes such as Cinderella, Maleficent
(originally Sleeping Beauty) and more recently,
Beauty and the Beast, which starred Emma Watson as Belle. Unlike these live-action versions, there are no humans in The Lion King story, so it is not known how exactly how this will work. The film is scheduled to be released in 2019.
