THIS BABY SEAL

A snow-white seal has been res­cued from gran­ite rocks in Ban­gor, North­ern Ire­land. The two-week-old pup be­came stranded when the tide went out and is now be­ing looked af­ter by staff at an aquar­ium. Af­ter Storm Ophe­lia last month, the aquar­ium had to res­cue eight stranded seals.

A SOAPY RES­CUE

When a climber got her knee stuck in a crack on a cliff in Gwynedd, in north-west Wales, the moun­tain-res­cue team had a very slip­pery way of res­cu­ing her. The team of 16 vol­un­teers de­cided to use wash­ing-up liq­uid to free her knee, then air­lifted her to the near­est hos­pi­tal for a check-up.

A YOUNG STAMP DE­SIGNER

Ten-year-old Ted Lewis-Clark won a com­pe­ti­tion ear­lier this year to have his Christ­mas draw­ing turned into a postage stamp. It has now been re­leased by the Royal Mail. Ted’s de­sign was cho­sen from more than 200,000 en­tries and will be bought by mil­lions of peo­ple all over the UK. He was pre­sented with a framed copy of his de­sign by Prince Charles.
