IT’S AN AMAZING WEEK FOR…
THIS BABY SEAL
A snow-white seal has been rescued from granite rocks in Bangor, Northern Ireland. The two-week-old pup became stranded when the tide went out and is now being looked after by staff at an aquarium. After Storm Ophelia last month, the aquarium had to rescue eight stranded seals.
A SOAPY RESCUE
When a climber got her knee stuck in a crack on a cliff in Gwynedd, in north-west Wales, the mountain-rescue team had a very slippery way of rescuing her. The team of 16 volunteers decided to use washing-up liquid to free her knee, then airlifted her to the nearest hospital for a check-up.
A YOUNG STAMP DESIGNER
Ten-year-old Ted Lewis-Clark won a competition earlier this year to have his Christmas drawing turned into a postage stamp. It has now been released by the Royal Mail. Ted’s design was chosen from more than 200,000 entries and will be bought by millions of people all over the UK. He was presented with a framed copy of his design by Prince Charles.
