Simpson freed: O.J. Simpson has been freed on parole after serving nine years of a 33-year term for armed robbery. Simpson, 70, was jailed in 2008 for barging into a hotel room in Las Vegas, and trying to retrieve (at gunpoint) some sports memorabilia that he insisted had been stolen from him. He was released on Sunday from a prison in Lovelock, Nevada, and was this week reported to be asking for $5m for his first media interview. At his parole hearing, Simpson (pictured) told the panel that he’d led a “conflict-free life” – a claim that surprised the many Americans who believe that he was wrongly acquitted for the murder of his ex-wife Nicole Brown and her friend, Ronald Goldman, in 1994.
