ELN ceasefire: Colombia’s largest remaining rebel group, the ELN (or National Liberation Army), has begun a temporary ceasefire – its first in half a century of insurgency. The truce, which began on Sunday and is set to run until mid-january, follows months of peace talks with Bogotá. Separately, the leader of a dissident Farc splinter group was killed by a Colombian air force attack in the province of Guaviare. Euclides Mora (a Farc alias) was kicked out of the rebel group last December for refusing to agree to the terms of its peace deal with Bogotá. President Juan Manuel Santos wrote on Twitter that the killing sent a clear message to any remaining rogue Farc members: “Hand yourselves in or you’ll face prison or a grave.”
