Charity of the week
The Children’s Literacy Charity is an evolution of Springboard for Children. In its 25th year, the charity is focused on addressing the literacy failure risk posed by more than three million children in the UK growing up in poverty. Through its Literacy Labs and other early individualised interventions, The Children’s Literacy Charity wants to change the effects of underachievement and social exclusion among children. In the past year alone, the charity has provided 43,000 hours of support, narrowing the average reading age gap by 15 months with those they work with. Extending its reach into more underprivileged areas, in schools and communities, as well as establishing strong partnerships to tackle the literacy gap, the charity is keen to work with more schools and partners to make this a reality.
