62% of Bri­tish adults pre­fer to watch “live” tele­vi­sion at Christ­mas and only 13% say they’ll be watch­ing “on de­mand”. 50% said they “could not live without” their TV on Christ­mas Day; by con­trast, only 25% said they’d be lost without their smart­phone. 85% watch as a fam­ily; 30% say they keep the TV on dur­ing Christ­mas din­ner; and 47% ex­pect to fall asleep in front of the TV. Less than 10% of Bri­tons say they care about the eth­nic or re­li­gious back­ground of prospec­tive im­mi­grants. By con­trast, 84% care if im­mi­grants have a crim­i­nal record; 73% about whether they have a job to go to; and 54% whether they can speak flu­ent English. ICM for Open Europe/ The Sun­day Times
