The Bri­tish cuppa, with news that it is con­tribut­ing to the plas­tic waste cri­sis. Un­be­known to most tea drinkers, teabags con­tain up to 25% plas­tic (which ex­plains why they don’t break down in com­post). Bri­tons use about 60 bil­lion teabags – con­tain­ing 2,400 tonnes of plas­tic – a year. Face­book, af­ter its own di­rec­tor of re­search ad­mit­ted that the so­cial media site can harm users’ men­tal health. How­ever, David Gins­berg said the so­lu­tion was not to use Face­book less, but to use it more ac­tively – shar­ing posts and in­ter­act­ing with friends.
