Obamas “to make TV shows”: Barack and Michelle Obama are reported to be in “advanced negotiations” with Netflix to produce a series of TV shows that will provide the former president and his wife with a “global platform”. According to The New York Times, the deal would enable the Obamas to produce inspirational programmes about people who are “making a difference”, with a focus on particular policy areas, such as nutrition, climate change and education. They might also endorse other Netflix programmes that accord with their “values”. Although the deal has not been finalised, the report sent Netflix’s share value to a new high of $326.74.
